      We don’t really know when the first stars where born, but that is the goal of my PhD to try and discover more about it!
      A star is born when very hot gas is pushed together by gravity (the same thing that makes the Earth turn around the Sun or you feet stay on the ground); then the gas becomes hotter and hotter and eventually catches fire. We think this happened for the first time when the Universe was about 100 million years old, so when it was very young: today it is 14 billion years old!! That is why it is difficult to know more: the first stars are very old so very distant from us and very hard to see…
