When the university asked me to work for them they gave me a choice between two projects. The first was to try and understand how comets behave when they get close to the Sun by using a huge telescope that is being built in Chile, South America right now. I chose the second project about Jupiter because I thought it was more exciting. Jupiter holds so many mysteries and if we can solve some of them then we can find out what happened in the early Solar System and how the Earth was formed. Jupiter also has the most powerful northern and southern lights in the Solar System and being one of the very few people in the whole world to try and understand them is very exciting. Finally, we think that there are millions and millions of planets like Jupiter outside of our Solar System. So again, we can use what we know about Jupiter to find out more about these other planets.
