I like finding out new things that no one has even known before!
I enjoy how every day is different and I get to decide what I do!
And I get to travel around loads and don’t have to go to interesting countries!

I really love the variety of my job! One day I’ll be on stage talking to 200 school pupils and splashing liquid nitrogen around, and the next day I’ll be at my desk writing a serious news article about a new discovery. I get to make videos, draw posters, design worksheets, create new activities… and I get to choose what I do! I also love working in a research group where people are constantly finding out new things – it’s amazing to be right at the cutting edge of knowledge!

There are three things I particularly like about my job: the first is teaching, I had never done it before starting my PhD and I got to really love it! The second is travelling the world to go to conferences to meet other fascinating scientists and discuss their work with them. The last one is what I am doing right now: having the opportunity to explain what I do to younger people and to encourage them do study science if they like it!

I’m still quite new at my job so I’m really enjoying learning something new every day! I get to see things that no one else has every seen before which is pretty cool. There’s a lot of freedom in my job so I get to choose what I want to do. But my favourite part of my job is that I get to talk about science with other people – whether that’s with other scientists or school students like you!

Talking about my work. Preparing for talks and speaking with other people helps me understand what I study. I get a confidence boost when I realize I understand something well enough to explain it to other people!

For me it is difficult to select a favorite part of my work. I enjoy a lot when I am preparing each new experiment (either reading articles, or designing the experiment itself). But it is also very fun to enter the laboratory and do chemical reactions to prepare the material you are going to analyze. Then there is the dissemination part, how to participate in this activity that allows you to be in contact with future generations and give them your advice and encouragement to move forward.
