If you’re lucky enough to look at the night sky on a day where we can see Mars, it will look like a reddish star that twinkles like the other ones but is a bit fainter.
It is different though, because it doesn’t create its own light (like stars and lightbulbs do): it only reflects the light from the Sun. It will look red because its surface is mostly made of red rocks – if you haven’t, you should watch The Martian to get a better idea!
